MONTANA'S eGOVERNMENT INITIATIVE

One of the State of Montana's information technology goals and a major strategic initiative is eGovernment. The state is aggressively working to deploy appropriate electronic government services for the benefit of its citizens. Currently, more than 300 online services are offered by 23 different state agencies/organizations. Some of these services are also available via a mobile application, accessible on any mobile device.

Providing government services electronically, primarily through the Internet, allows customers to do business with state government on their own schedule, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at their choice of location. The eGovernment Initiative puts customers in charge of their relationship with government by providing electronic access to government information and services. DEVELOPING eGOVERNMENT APPLICATIONS

The cornerstone of Montana's eGovernment Initiative is mt.gov.

It is the portal through which eGovernment services can quickly be accessed. In order to accelerate the pace by which services and information are provided electronically, the state has entered into a long-term alliance with a private company for the development of Internet-based eGovernment services. The resulting contract is the Self-funded Electronic Government Services term contract. The contract is currently held by NICUSA, Inc. doing business in Montana as Montana Interactive, LLC.
