SPECTRUM COORDINATION PROGRAM

The Public Safety Spectrum Coordination Program engages in the following activities:PSCB Logo spectrum planning, frequency licensing assistance and management of statewide mutual aid frequencies.

  • Spectrum Planning: Program staff participate in Federal Communications Commission Region 25 700 MHz and 800 MHz regional planning activities. To learn more, click here.
  • Statewide Mutual Aid Frequency Management: The Department licenses statewide mutual aid radio frequencies for use by Montana public safety agencies and maintains the Montana Mutual Aid and Common Frequencies Manual, which outlines the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for their use.
  • Mutual Aid Frequency Permitting: The Department provides permission for various public safety agencies as well as approved public and private entities, such as the Red Cross or tow truck operators, to use the frequencies via a use permit. To apply for a permit, please click here.
